Abdominoplasty, often called a "tummy tuck," is a popular procedure used to flatten and shape the abdomen by removing excess fat, skin and tightening muscles. Dr. Harrison has been performing tummy tucks with excellent cosmetic results for many years. Patients love the look of their new flat stomachs after surgery under Dr. Harrison's exceptional care.
Dr. Harrison will take the time during every pre-operative consultation to learn what patients want to achieve from a tummy tuck both for their bodies and for their self-confidence. By listening to what patients have to say and closely examining them rather than performing a one-size-fits-all procedure on every person, we provide patients with a completely customized treatment that takes into account their specific goals.
A tummy tuck leaves patients with a flatter more toned abdominal area that fits the natural contours of their body. It can improve a patient's appearance and confidence by helping them look and feel younger and slimmer. The results of this procedure are visible right away and will continue to improve. With a balanced diet and regular exercise, results are long lasting. Scars will fade with time, leaving your stomach sleeker and more defined than ever before.
A tummy tuck will leave a scar spanning the lower abdomen from hip to hip. Dr. Harrison is very careful to make the incision low enough for even a bikini to conceal the scar.
Liposuction is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to remove localized areas of fat from the body through a small thin tube called a cannula. The fat from the targeted area is suctioned from the body through this tube to help patients achieve a slimmer and balanced appearance. During your initial consultation with Dr. Harrison he will help you define your goals and set safe, realistic expectations. Liposuction removes fat but does not tighten your skin.
A lower body lift was developed with the goal of not only tightening the trunk but also tightening the thighs by removing excess skin and fat from the buttocks, outer thighs and abdomen. This was initially suggested for patients after massive weight loss, but the body lift improves the shape and contour of patients after normal aging and some moderate weight loss. During your initial consultation with Dr. Harrison he will recommend which type of body contouring is most appropriate and provide you with some options.
Liposuction is often used to assist during lower body lift procedures to improve the overall result. After surgery, recovery will take four to six weeks, but for the patient whose body really requires this procedure it can yield dramatic and satisfying results. Patients with a lower body mass index (BMI) do better than patients with a higher BMI.
A thigh lift is performed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper legs. Candidates typically suffer from loose, inelastic skin after extreme weight loss due to diet, exercise or bariatric surgery. Because of this, the procedure is often combined with others such as breast lifts, facelifts and arm lifts to retain an attractive body proportion. Dr. Harrison will review your body with you and help you understand how to minimize your scars and maximize your results while focusing on your safety.
Also known as brachioplasty, an arm lift removes loose, hanging skin from the upper arms that is often caused by aging or significant weight loss. An arm lift is performed under general anesthesia and involves incisions across the skin of the upper arm to remove the excess fat and skin. The remaining skin is then redraped to create a slimmer, firmer appearance. The incisions are made in a way that will promote better healing.
After an arm lift, patients are advised to keep their arms elevated and wear a compression garment to help facilitate the healing process. Patients can usually return to work after a week or two but should avoid physical activity for three or four weeks.
Many women suffer from enlarged labia minora (the inner genital lips). Some may not like the appearance of their large, uneven or thick labia, which can sometimes extend beyond the labia majora. Others may be bothered by labial irritation while conducting normal activities, or may find it difficult to keep the labial area clean. Still others may experience pain during sexual intercourse, sports or other vigorous activities. Dr. Harrison performs labiaplasty in a way to minimize visible scars and maintain a natural appearance of the external genitalia.
